Athena and Artemis Cruise Ships and Eastcoast Cement Transport Ship Docked

The Athena and Artemis cruise ships and the Eastcoast cement transport ship have sailed in for overhaul. The Athena has been placed in the small DOCK 4, while the Eastcoast has been placed in the big DOCK 15, together with the Artemis cruise ship, whose overhaul began in the middle of the month. Works on its above-water part have been performed, whereas works on its underwater part will begin following its entry into the dock.
The Athena and Artemis cruise ships are owned by Small Ships Management Limited from the Cayman Islands and have, for many years, almost always at the same time, been sailing in for overhaul in our overhaul base. The two cruise ships have identical characteristics. They are 59.60 m long, 10.68 m wide, with a shallow draught of only 3 m, which enables them to sail into shallow water areas. During the winter, they take their passengers to Adriatic cities from Zadar to Dubrovnik, while during the summer, they sail the Ionian route.
Works on the Athena will be performed on the above-water and underwater part of the hull and will include cleaning, painting and zinc anode replacement. Since this is a five-year ship class renewal, the servicing of the main and auxiliary engines and of the line and propeller shafts will be performed, along with other necessary electrical, electronic-engineering, locksmithery, mechanical and similar works.
The Eastcoast was built in 1961 for the purpose of cement transportation and flies the Maltese flag. It is 64 m long and 10 m wide, with a gross tonnage of 836 t. During the next ten days, it will undergo corrosion protection of the underwater part of its hull, servicing of the main engine and valves and reconstruction of a tank.
