Future naval architects visited our overhaul base

Some ten students from the Split Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, the undergraduate and the professional study of shipbuilding, 2nd and 3rd year, visited the shipyard to become better familiarised with the overhaul base, all as a part of the courses Ship Equipment, Ship Outfitting and Overhaul and Maintenance of Watercraft, which include theoretical instruction, as well as field instruction. According to professor Ljubenkov, these visits should better acquaint the students with the subject matter acquired in the lectures and direct them how to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
After they looked into each and every corner of the large and the small floating dock, they commented that they liked the engine room of the large dock best, where they had a chance to see the machines and devices, which lifted the dock up and lowered it into the sea as a synchronized work routine. The students are satisfied with what they have seen, and some of them surprised with what was presented to them, because this is still only the initial stage of familiarisation with the shipbuilding industry and their profession.
Several students have shown an interest for more detailed familiarisation with the overhaul base and the business organisation, and therefore they will be allowed to visit more frequently, during which time they will gain direct insight into the work of the overhaul base, and our engineers and employees on the spot will help them to master the practical work. After collecting the information and getting better familiarised, they will transform the knowledge they gained into seminar works and final projects.
