Sardina II preparing for the new fishing season

The fishing vessel Sardina II has sailed into the small DOCK 4 where in the following days it will undergo the annual general overhaul, including the corrosion protection of the hull, i.e. the washing, preparation and painting of the plating, as well as the placement of new zinc anodes.  The main and auxiliary engines will be serviced, i.e. injectors will be removed, valves inspected, the sea water cooler cleaned and the antifreeze replaced. The underwater valves will be inspected, and the sonar probe, propeller and side thrusters will be cleaned, all this in order to prepare the ship for the new fishing season.
Sardina II is owned by the company Sardina d.o.o. from Postira on the Island of Brač that deals with the fishing and processing of tuna and small oily fish. The ship was built in 2008 as one of the first up-to-date Croatian tuna boats designed for fishing not only in the Adriatic but also in the Mediterranean Sea.  The ship is 39.95 m long and 8.65 m wide. The ship has 7 cabins for 12 crew members, a crew lounge, and the master and the chief of fishing cabins. The ship's insides are fitted with cooling units which enable the quality of the caught fish to be retained, as well as the ship to stay at sea longer.
