Students Learn to Manage Industrial Production

Our shipyard was visited by first-year students of production management from Reutlingen (Germany). Their visit was organised by professors from the Split Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, who often take their students and colleagues from abroad to tour the Trogir Shipyard. The Split Faculty has been cooperating successfully with the Reutlingen University for a few years now, which is reflected in the development of joint industrial projects based on the Lean Management programme. Both Universities support the programme because Lean Management pursues excellence in the production process, i.e. obtaining quality products in the shortest possible time at an affordable price, with the end result being greater effectiveness and competitiveness on the market.
During the tour of the shipyard, the host Mario Rovan, M.Sc in Engineering, presented the students with the production technology of the shipyard, the implementation of Lean Management as well as its impact on production. The visitors were impressed with what they saw and the discovery that one production process can result in such a gigantic product.  Their development projects are much more modest, but they hope that they will one day manage such a demanding industrial production.
During their visit, the students from Reutlingen will attend a workshop in industrial engineering, management and administration at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, where they will exchange views, knowledge and experiences with the Split students, raising their education to a higher level. The goal of all the students is to connect with companies on the market, learn from them, but also to give their contribution to the improvement of their market position.
