The La Belle De l'Adriatique cruise ship enters port

After a successful summer season, the La Belle De l'Adriatique moored at the Trogir shipyard for its annual improvements.
It will stay at the shipyard for a few days, during which the repair workers will wash and paint the underwater hull to protect the steel construction from fouling, and the zinc anodes will be replaced to protect the hull from corrosion. In addition to installing corrosion protection, the ship's pipeline will be replaced and the aluminium platform will be repaired.
The ship is owned by the French company CroisiEurope whose operations mostly revolve around river cruises, and La Belle de l'Adriatique is their only ship specialised for sea cruises. During summers, it performs cruises on the Mediterranean, and in winter on the Caribbean and on the Red Sea, but this winter it will be on the Athens - Istanbul line.
The ship was constructed in 2007 in Belgium and flies the flag of Brussels. It is 110.65 meters long, 11.90 meters wide, and due to a small draught of only 2.65 meters it can enter narrow and shallow maritime zones. In the open sea, it can reach speeds of up to 16 knots.
It can carry 200 passengers along with 48 crew members to care for the passengers. During the journeys, the passengers have full comfort. They have a spacious sunny deck with deck chairs, a jacuzzi, a gift shop and two bars and a health club at their disposal.
The ship can be seen in the Trogir maritime zone every summer, due to Trogir being a part of the selected line presented to European tourists. In addition to Trogir, the passengers visit the islands of Mljet, Korčula, Vis, Hvar and the cities of Dubrovnik, Kotor and Šibenik.
The captain of the ship is Mr. Ivica Dabelić. He has been on board the ship from the very start, and even before it started navigating, as in 2006 in a shipyard in Belgium he was an active participant in the ship's construction. He presented us with the specific qualities of this passenger ship and he focused the most on the three azipods that provide the ship with better manoeuvrability and cost-effectiveness in terms of fuel consumption. He also introduced us to some of his crew members. The youngest among them is probably cadet Patricia Marija Tomić; this is her first maritime experience.
After the repairs, the ship will sail to Greece and in Athens it shall mid-November receive the first passengers to take to Istanbul.
