The Songa Opal tanker docks for repairs too

The first in a string of tankers with arranged repairs, the Songa Hawk was repaired on the docks of the Trogir shipyard and sailed out with a renewed five-year class period. It was succeeded by the Songa Opal tanker (144*22). Both of these tankers are owned by the Blystad group.
The imposing tanker (length 144 m, width 22 m and draft 9.2 m) was constructed in South Korea in 2009, and sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands.
The Songa Opal was taken in for repairs because its five-year class period had expired. In order to meet the set requirements, the washing and maintenance of the underwater and above-water shell plating started immediately after the ship had docked. Once the works on the underwater shell plating are finished, zinc alloys will be installed in order to provide it with further protection from corrosion. In addition to painting the hull, maintenance of all ship systems will be carried out.
All of these activities should be completed by the end of this month, and the Songa Opal should continue its core activities in the beginning of June.
