City administration gives full support to Shipyard Trogir

At its 31st session on 3 March 2009, the Municipal Council of the City of Trogir gave unanimous support to the Trogir Shipyard by passing a Decision on Setting Aside the Area of Brodotrogir d.d. (Pt. Cubrijan) as a Special Purpose Economic Zone for the purpose of preparing a Detailed Renovation Plan in accordance with the Urban Renewal Plan of the City of Trogir.

In the Decision it further stands that the area of the City of Trogir, encompassed in the concession on maritime good (Pt. Cubrijan) allotted to Brodotrogir d.d. and to commercial entities owned by Brodotrogir d.d., is set aside as a special purpose economic zone that includes the shipyard, the service base, the port for nautical tourism, and the port for public transport.  The Decision recommends that the company produce a Detailed Renovation Plan (DRP) for Pt. Cubrijan, which would be a special part of the Urban Renewal Plan (UPU) of the City of Trogir. The activities that are anticipated in the DPR relate exactly to those activities that we are working on today, or which we expect to working on as part of our Restructuring Program.

This decision of the municipal authorities clearly demonstrates their attitude about the future of Brodotrogir and its employees, and the area of Brodotrogir that has been designated as an economic zone. It is obvious that the decision is a continuation of the cooperation between Brodotrogir and the Mayor's Office and the Municipal Council. We should not forget to mention that Brodotrogir, as the largest economic entity in Trogir, is a major source of revenue for the City. The City of Trogir can now prepare its UPU without hindrance and independent of Brodotrogir, which means that the decision that has just been reached also allows for the unfettered development of both the Trogir shipyard and the City of Trogir and the harmonizing of mutual needs.

Attending the 31st session of the Municipal Council on behalf of Brodotrogir were Mateo Tramontana, Chief Executive Officer of Brodotrogir; Slavko Bilota, President of the Metalworkers Union; Dani Lucin, President of the Independent Trade Union; Jerko Uljevic, President of the Workers Council, and other employees of Brodotrogir. At the conclusion of his remarks Mateo Tramontana thanked everyone for their support, both the municipal government and the opposition parties, and everyone who invested effort in and contributed to this Decision.
