Lectures on the welding procedures at the Shipyard Trogir

At the initiative of the Dalmatian Welding Technique Association, supported by the Shipyard Trogir, the lecture on "Flux filled wires and their application" was held.

The objective of this lecture was to present the issue on very essential welding procedure, represented either in shipbuilding or in great number of enterprises, which is very important for the manufacture, quality and more efficient operation of the firms engaged in metallurgical works. Mr. Branko Jurko, initiator of the lecture, member to the Association, Head of the Brodotrogir Welding Technology Department, Mr. Zoran Siric, Head of the Work Preparation Service and Mr. Marko Besker, Chairman to the Dalmatian Welding Technique Association, in their introductory speech welcome all participants.

Graduated engineers Mr. Josip Matosevic, Mr. Zoran Vukovic, Mr. Nenad Durdevic and Mr. Darko Selakovic, all employees to the Brodosplit, detailed the following themes, namely: "Flux welding method", "Welding equipment", "Parent metals and deposit materials" and „Most frequent failures in welded joints and methods of their detecting".
Upon completion of the lectures, Mr. Jurko pointed out: "I am satisfied with everything done, especially with the organization, for what I thank to the Management of the Shipyard Trogir. We really had a full support and I think that we are not to stop now. Actually, I expect that such lectures will be continued in future too. We need to follow development of technology, since it is not sufficient only to accept engines and equipment, but also to know how to handle them and operate with them. Maximal investments should be done into the training of own personnel, having in mind that before the Patriotic War the welders of our shipyard used to achieve exceptionally good results at the competitions of metalworkers in Croatia. At present the profession of metalworker has become insufficient. Therefore, I repeat training of our personnel should be our primary aim, meaning that we should have a proper programme for coaching of welders. We have enough adequate conditions. Where there is will there is a way.
