Return of ADRIA FERRIES ships

After being de-docked and tied to the shore on November 11, 2008, pace of ship equipping works has been picked up to allow for earliest possible delivery.

From an old rusty wreck, the ship is slowly being transformed into a solid functional ship. The ship Riviera Adriatica, owned by Irish company ADRIA FERRIES, came to the Trogir shipyard on November 7 2008, and was docked five days later. After several years, Adria Ferries returned to the Trogir shipyard and entrusted it with the repair of the ship by way of a signed contract. Detailed repair of 2 main engines and 4 auxiliary engines will be performed, light wood bearing in the left propeller axis strut will be replaced, underwater valves will be repaired, pipelines in the engine room and garage will be replaced, extensive anticorrosion protection works will be executed, as well as a number of usual repair works. All works will have been completed early in December this year, when the ship's commercial exploitation at the new Bari - Durres route is scheduled to commence.

Owing to long-term successful mutual cooperation between Zagreb firm Adria-Mar Brodogradnja and Libyan Navy, Shipyard Trogir contracted general repair of Libyan auxiliary, respectively ship for logistics purposes "Ibn Ouf".

The work has been totally coordinated with the state agency RH Alan, which, in accordance with its legal authorizations, performed all necessary pre-actions and procedures regarding reaching prescribed approval for arrival of foreign warship for performance of general repair into Republic of Croatia.

"Ibn Ouf" was built in France in the late seventies of the last century. The ship having length of 100 m and breadth of 15,7 m, is intended for carriage of tanks and vehicles. Contracted works will last less than a year period and will include replacement of steel structure and hull plating and superstructure parts, installation of new propelling engines and generators, repair of all ship's systems, repair of fore ramp, renewal of interior parts and fitting of new radio-communication equipment and navigational aids.
Successful realization of this project will enable further growth of economic cooperation between Libya and Republic Croatia, which, with respect to exceptionally good political relations and available potentials of both countries, is expected to be in later years more progressive, successful and professional.
