Children from Ribola day-care centre visited the Shipyard

Ms. Anamarija Bezina and Ms. Nataša Matijaš, educators from the Ribola day-care centre, brought to Brodotrogir twenty children from ages 4 to 6 attending the day-care centre's ten-hour programme, to see up-close the gigantic cranes and ships which are being built here, and which they regularly observe and comment on during their walks on the Trogir quayside.
However, Anamarija revealed a deeper reason for this visit, which is that shipbuilding and maritime industry are frameworks of their project which they are preparing for presentation on a regional festival of the National Programme of Education for Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship, to be held on 6th March in Split.
As she said, the theme of the project emerged from everyday conversations with children whose fathers work in the shipyard or are seafarers on far seas. From one light and pleasant story resulted a wide range of activities, a small library with encyclopaedias about shipbuilding has been set up in the day-care centre, they made visits to the museum and the shipyard. In the museum, the children learned about the construction of wooden ships, and in the shipyard the construction of large, steel ships. That way they were appropriately presented with the comparison of the entire historical timeline of making of ships in the Trogir shipyard, from the first ones which were built from wood, to the present ones built from steel, thus completing in their little heads a lesson which one day they could remember and use in selection of their life calling.
